Daisy (Operational Manager at Trinity Hospice) is currently training for
this year’s TCS London Marathon after successfully winning a place in the
coveted running event in November. Her training began and she is doing all
she can to get her runs in on the treadmill at the gym and longer runs
outside along the sunny promenade in Blackpool. The training is mentally
and physically intense, working towards being able to run a massive 26.2
miles on the day. She has had huge support from family, friends, colleagues
and the general public in her efforts.
With less than two months still to go, Daisy is already over half way
towards her fundraising goal, with encouraging words of support from her
generous donors.
Daisy says: “It’s an honour to run for Trinity.
“I know this will provide me with a challenge both physically and mentally
and will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. What a better way to
push yourself so much AND raise money for such an important cause?”
“My grandad was a patient back in 2009 and died on the In-patient Unit
under the care of the nurses, doctors and all the other team that
contributes to the success of our organisation. His death was made to be so
comfortable and dignified. The nurses knew when the right time was to bring
us in to say goodbye. Seeing him comfortable in his bed, looking out at the
garden smiling with a drink of whisky was my last living memory of him. All
of the core clinical services at Trinity are so important, however since
starting in my role, I am also aware of how much goes into operating the
organisation and that with little funding coming in from the government,
the importance of fundraising much outweighs all other things.
“Without core fundraised money we would simply not function!”
